Would you like to talk to someone?

If anyone has done or said hurtful things to you or someone else because of your culture or ethnicity, the University of Canterbury, CPIT, Lincoln University  and the Human Rights Commission want to know, so they can help you. If you speak to them they will not give your details to anyone else unless you allow them to release this information. 

At the University of Canterbury, you can call or visit International Student Support at 51 Creyke Road, or phone (03) 364 2391 for advice or international-student-support@canterbury.ac.nz

If you are studying at CPIT, you can call or visit International Student Advisers at A121, CPIT, Madras Street campus, or phone (03) 940 8389 for advice or email intadvisors@cpit.ac.nz

If you are studying at Lincoln University, you can phone the International Student Advisor on (03) 325 3838 ext 8719 or visit reception at Student Health and Support in the North end of the Hudson Building or email: Denise.Pelvin@lincoln.ac.nz

At the Human Rights Commission, you can walk-in to the office on 4th Floor, 190 Armagh Street, or call (03) 353 0956 to speak to an Advisor. You can also call our Infoline toll-free on 0800 496 877 or email infoline@hrc.co.nz

If you wish to talk to the Police, an Adviser can arrange this, and can go with you as support if you wish.

You can also report what happened by filling out our online form. You do not have to include your name or who you are in the report.

Report harassment

Saying or doing hurtful things to people because they are different is called harassment. In New Zealand harassment is against the law.
